Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 24, 2025

Look, we get it - nobody actually likes reading these things. But since we're handling your ride and your info, figured we should be straight with you about what we do with your data. We're not some faceless corporation, just a local shop that takes your privacy seriously.

When you bring your car in or reach out to us, here's what we typically collect:

  • Contact stuff: Your name, phone number, email, and address. Pretty standard.
  • Vehicle details: Make, model, year, VIN, mileage - everything we need to work on your car properly.
  • Service history: What we've done to your ride, parts we've used, any issues we've spotted.
  • Payment info: We don't actually store your full credit card details - that goes through our payment processor.
  • Photos and documentation: Sometimes we'll snap pics of your car's condition before/after work, especially for restorations.

If you're just browsing the website, we might catch some basic stuff like your IP address and browser type through cookies, but that's pretty minimal compared to most sites.

We're not out here selling your data or spamming you with junk. Here's what we actually do:

  • Service your vehicle: Obviously. Can't fix your car without knowing what it is and what's wrong with it.
  • Keep you updated: We'll call or text when your car's ready, if we find something unexpected, or if you've got an appointment coming up.
  • Maintain records: For warranty purposes, service history, and honestly just good business practice.
  • Process payments: You know, so we can get paid for the work we do.
  • Improve our service: Looking at patterns to see what we can do better.
  • Send occasional updates: Maybe a maintenance reminder or info about seasonal services. Nothing crazy, and you can opt out anytime.

We're not gonna bug you with marketing garbage unless you specifically said it's cool. We've got better things to do, and so do you.

We take security pretty seriously around here. Here's how we keep your info locked down:

  • Our computer systems are password-protected and behind firewalls
  • Physical paperwork stays in locked filing cabinets when not in use
  • Only staff who actually need access to your info can see it
  • Payment processing goes through encrypted, PCI-compliant systems
  • We don't leave customer files lying around the shop floor

Look, nothing's 100% bulletproof, but we do everything reasonable to keep your stuff safe. If there's ever a breach, we'll let you know ASAP.

We're not in the business of selling your data. But sometimes we gotta share info with:

  • Parts suppliers: When ordering specific components for your vehicle
  • Payment processors: To handle transactions securely
  • Insurance companies: If you're making a claim and authorize us to
  • Warranty providers: For warranty work documentation
  • Legal authorities: Only if we're legally required to, like with a court order

That's about it. We're not selling your email to random marketers or anything sketchy like that.

Our website uses cookies, but we're pretty lightweight compared to most places:

  • Essential cookies: Keep the site working properly, remember if you're logged in
  • Analytics: Basic stuff to see how many folks visit and which pages they check out
  • Preference cookies: Remember settings you've chosen

You can disable cookies in your browser if you want, though some parts of the site might not work as smoothly.

We don't use those creepy tracking pixels that follow you around the internet. Life's too short for that nonsense.

It's your data, so you've got some say in what happens with it:

  • Access: Wanna see what info we've got on you? Just ask.
  • Corrections: If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.
  • Deletion: Want us to delete your info? We can do that, though we might need to keep some stuff for legal/warranty reasons.
  • Opt-out: Don't wanna get our emails or texts anymore? Easy - just tell us or use the unsubscribe link.
  • Data portability: Need your service records in a specific format? We can work something out.

Just shoot us an email at service@pyrethroncrown.info or give us a call at (604) 785-2940 if you wanna exercise any of these rights.

We don't hang onto your info forever, but we do need to keep some stuff for a while:

  • Service records: Usually keep these for at least 7 years for warranty and legal purposes
  • Payment records: Tax law requires us to keep these for a certain period
  • Contact info: We'll keep this as long as you're an active customer, plus a reasonable time after
  • Marketing preferences: We'll respect your opt-out choices indefinitely

Once we don't need your info anymore and there's no legal reason to keep it, we'll securely delete or destroy it.

Since we're operating in British Columbia, Canada, we follow Canadian privacy laws, particularly:

  • PIPEDA: The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
  • BC PIPA: British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act

These laws give you rights over your personal info and set out how businesses like ours should handle it. We take these obligations seriously.

We might update this policy from time to time - laws change, our practices evolve, whatever. When we make changes, we'll:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
  • Post the new version on our website
  • If it's a major change, we'll send you an email or give you a heads up somehow

It's probably worth checking back here once in a while, especially if you're the type who actually reads these things.

If you've got questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, just reach out. We're not hiding behind some faceless corporate structure - you can actually talk to real people here.

If you're not satisfied with how we handle your privacy concerns, you've also got the right to file a complaint with the BC Privacy Commissioner. We'd prefer to sort it out directly though.

Bottom Line

We're a local auto shop that happens to collect some personal info to do our job. We're not gonna sell it, spam you endlessly, or do anything weird with it. We protect it reasonably well, follow the law, and respect your choices. If you've got questions or concerns, just ask - we're here Monday through Friday and actually answer our phones.
